Blazer at Southwold 2010
Blazer is a Westerly Konsort built in 1979 launched in 1980 - I bought her in 1995 and her home port is Grimsby.
My wife and I sailed Blazer from Grimsby for four years mainly southward to the north Norfolk coast.
One reason that I bought this particular Konsort is that the year before I bought her she lost the mast in the Humber and the repair replaced all the above deck gear.
I really enjoy being out on the water but if I'm honest, I'm not too good at sailing - I motor a lot.
For me - I enjoy working on Blazer as much as the sailing and over the seven years since I bought her - I have completed quite a lot of improvements.
The 20hp Bukh engine - complete overhaul at home - over winter.
Major rewire - including extra domestic batteries - now 440 a/h.
Hull scraped back to the hull - sanded and sorted - three coats of Vyniguard primer and antifouled.
Fixed PC installed running Sea Pro sailing Nav software with a monitor in the cockpit.
Lewmar S/S electric windlass - 60mtrs of chain rode - a 15kg Rocna anchor fitted.
Echo max dual band active radar enhancer fitted - to give a solid radar image to shipping.
I enjoyed every minute of the work.
