End of a great Holiday

Thursday 7th July 2016

Well, today we travel to Truro in Cornwall to visit Jackie's daughter Fiona for three days then on to home.

The last few days have been wonderful and eventful !

Sunday and Monday were cloudy but warm - then the sun came out and it was hot !!

We went out sailing on Monday - 5 hours - lovely - tried fishing - nothing !
A flat sea - all systems worked well on Blazer - very pleased.

Tuesday / Wednesday - packing - sorting the boat for leaving - loading the car.
I removed the spray hood and made a temporary cover for the companionway hatch - I can reinforce the sewing at home and get a quotation for a new spray hood from Mudfords in Sheffield - might be cheaper than the marine cover makers quote ?

July and August are the holiday months in France and Trebeurden has come to life !!
The beaches are packed - the cafe's are buzzing - great to see.
There is also an international sailing regatta! - a big event - amazing that Trebeurden is hosting it !!
It is a shame to leave now, with the good weather and the place in holiday mode - but we have things to do at home and a holiday booked in Spain in three weeks time !
We will be back in Trebeurden  in August / September we hope.

Last night we had a lovely meal at Le Quellen Hotel / restaurant to celebrate a great holiday - a little tradition of ours - we really enjoyed it.
Then on to Le Benji's with Penny for a night cap - great.

That's all for now - I will start up the blog again when we return to Blazer in late August.

Quiet Day

Saturday 2nd July 2016

Cold - grey and drizzle this morning - a slow start for us - then off for a walk to Ille Renote.
The sun came out - we ambled round - lovely.
Shopping on the way home at the big Super U in Tregestel.

We relaxed on board and took Penny another walk late afternoon and were very surprised to see the beach busy and lots of people in the sea - Amazing !

We stopped at the Bamboo bar for cocktails - lovely.

After tea we walked out again in sunshine and bought Churo's from the stall at the funfair.
It had just set up for a two month stint as it does every year.

Morlaix Visit

Friday 1st July 2016

Raining heavy today so - off for a drive to Morlaix - about an hour away.

The town has a big marina - up the river from the bay - through a lock - in the centre of town - Nice.
A lot of very green, algae covered boats - unloved - unused !!

We walked around town in the rain with Penny - plenty of shops but high prices everywhere.

We found a cafe for lunch - very good food - very low cost - Great !
A band stand with lots of flowers.

Back on board we chilled out and at 7.30 - off to Le Benji's for dinner.
We had curry with rice and salad - tasted good but needed warming up a bit !
The two piece band set up and started - not to our taste - they tried hard but not quite right somehow.
Even the locals weren't dancing - that says something.
We paid and left at 9 pm - a first for us !!

Raining again !!

Wednesday 29th - Thursday 30th June 2016

Rain forecast for most of these two days with wind blowing the rain straight into Blazer's saloon - so we have to close all the hatches which makes us feel too closed in.

So as soon as we could - off for a walk.
We picked up the coast walk near Ploumanach by trying lanes that go to the sea and we found a new car park and a Park with a lake - right be the sea !
The Granite out crops in the bay are really beautiful in this area and plentiful.

We spotted a group of tall pine trees with ropes hanging and found people rigging a rope course - complete with picnic tables suspended  30 feet up in the air ?
Jackie asked the main guy what it was all about but his English was not good enough  - shame.

On Thursday - same area we met a German guy who was travelling towards Spain in his motor home.
We told him that we have really got to know this area well and how much we love it.
He said - in not so many words - if you love Europe why did you vote to leave the EU ?
He was laughing as he said it - He just had to say it , didn't he !!!
He said that he thought the result was a bad one - for the UK and for the EU.

Thursday afternoon - Jackie created a master piece - a seafood and chicken Paella - Wonderful.

So all in all - we are making the most of the poor weather - lots of long walks and great food.
